Testing at St.Thomas’ Hospital with Dr. Adam Fox
Posted: 18 Feb 2013
Even more testing...and the last in the series. I set up camp and spent all day with leading paediactric allergy specialist Dr.Adam Fox at St.Thomas' Hospital in London. He runs three allergy clinic's here each week and I was so thankful to have the opportunity to meet more parents and children, hearing their stories and experiences. I spent up to an hour with each of them, taking them through Allergy Adventures to get their initial thoughts, before giving each of them a little goody bag to take home to test further.
It was great to see the children's faces light up as I gave them glimpses of the characters and their adventures. Hearing the parents positive comments and support, made over a year and a half of hard work and late nights so worth it.
There's such a great team of nurse's and dietitian's here and I would like to say a big thank you to all the parents who allowed me to be present when it came to their child's consultancy appointment, diagnosis and skin prick testing's. A highly emotionally experience for the child and parent and one which I hope to help make a little easier.
And yes, probably not the most of flattering of pictures (it was taken at the end of a very long day). We were both exhausted by the day's activities but a big step towards creating an educational but fun new environment that children with food allergies can enjoy.
